Modern science tells us that there is no gene for RACE. This year, the University of Kentucky’s Cultural Diversity Festival will bring the “Human Race Machine.” A powerful, yet subtle diversity tool, The Human Race Machine allows the viewer the opportunity to envision oneself as a member of a different race. It allows for a opportunity to move beyond our appearance and contemplate a deeper human connection. The viewers will have six races to choose from: Asian, White, African, Hispanic, Middle Eastern and Indian.
The machine will be in the Student Center on March 31st -April 2nd. The machine will be available to use from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Saturday.
To go along with the machine, there will be two opportunities to engage in dialogue about the machine and your experience. A student discussion will be held on March 31st at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for Student Involvement (CSI). There will be a faculty, staff, and student luncheon on April 1st at noon in the CSI.
For more information and to RSVP for the luncheon contact Rebecca Comage at rebecca.comage@uky.edu or call (859) 257-0179, by Tuesday, March 29th by 5pm.
