FREE College Preparedness Seminar for African Americans

CPE seeks African-American juniors, seniors and parents for college preparedness conference

The Council on Postsecondary Education, in conjunction with the Kentucky Department of Education, will co-sponsor the 24th Annual Academically Proficient African-American High School Junior and Senior Conference on the campus of Morehead State University June 17-18.

Kentucky’s African-American juniors and seniors and their parents are encouraged to participate in the free conference. Registration closes June 8.

The conference will acquaint students with a wide range of college planning topics, including financial aid and scholarships, selecting a college and career, and developing skills for successful transition to college.

A college fair with campus representatives from across the state will follow the sessions.

To participate, students must be classified as juniors or seniors during the 2011-2012 school year. There is no cost; however, families requiring overnight housing will be charged $12 per person. Visit this website for more information: http://cpe.ky.gov/news/calendar/statewide/acadprof.htm
