Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra - Making the History of Jazz Come Alive

Founded in 1990 by Congress in recognition of the importance of jazz and its status as national treasure. The SJMO has preserved, promoted, and presented the heritage of jazz in scores of concerts that span the whole continuum of the art form. Drawing from the orchestra's mind-boggling repertory of hundreds of important arrangements from the 1920s through 1970s, this seven-piece ensemble presents an eclectic program.
