Join the Freedom Center for a panel discussion on the Little Rock Nine: Integration and the State of the US Educational System.
September 25, 1957, became a historic day in the nation when nine courageous children risked their lives to attend Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Confronted by a hostile crowd and escorted by the Screaming Eagles of the 101st Airborne, they shouldered the burden of integrating a then segregated public school system.
Carlotta Wells LaNeir, the youngest member of the Little Rock Nine, will be sharing her experiences before and after the integration of Central High School, as well as her observations about the current state of the educational system as it relates to whether or not the United States' public school systems have lived up to the promise of Brown v. Board of Education.
