2011 STEM CIPL INSTITUTE
Focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math
We are now taking applications for the 2011 STEM Institute.
Application Deadline is April 15, 2011
Who participates?
Participation in the Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership is open to all parents, grandparents and guardians who have or have had children in Kentucky public schools. Participation is also open to teachers, administrators, mentors, and others who want to improve student outcomes in our public schools.
Participants will:
- Enhance their leadership and communication skills
- Learn about the public education system in Kentucky
- Receive and learn how to read and understand the test data from their school and district
- Focus on the importance of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) areas
- Learn about achievement gaps in our schools
- Partner with their school administrators, teachers, and other parents to improve student achievement
- Connect to an existing network of committed parents and community leaders
- Commit to attend all three two-day sessions
- Commit to leading at least one project in a school or community
- Receive support and coaching as they plan and implement their project
- Maintain an ongoing connection with the Commonwealth Institute

*attendance is requred at all six days.
The STEM CIPL training is open to all KY applicants except for ones living in the following eleven counties:
Boone, Bracken, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Harrison, Kenton, Owen, Pendleton and Robertson. The counties are eligible for the NKY CIPL.
