The University of Kentucky is hosting a two-day Symposium on Affrilachia prior to the ASA conference at EKU. The gathering at UK will include speakers and panel presentations on The Black Banjo Gatherings, Nina Simone, Affrilachian Identity, August Wilson, Visual Art, and Environmental Racism as well as the 20th Anniversary Celebration Reading by the Affrilachian Poets, a film strand, a one-woman show called “Your Negro Tour Guide,” and a concert by the Carolina Chocolate Drops.
