MLK Mixtape Project

Tonight @ the MLK Mixtape Project: Come out and connect with Professor Melynda Price, who will discuss a portion of King's book Strength to Love. Dr. Price is truly one of our stars here at UK--having earned both a PhD and JD, her doctoral dissertation was awarded the 2007 best dissertation award from the Race, Ethnicity, and Politics section of the American Political Science Association. She works on one of the most crucial issues of our time: race and punishment in the criminal justice system, and is working on a book titled "At The Cross: Race, Religion, and Citizenship in the Politics of the Death Penalty Among African Americans. Scholarship is not just researching, writing, and publishing for Professor Price: she has long been committed to action--in the academy, in the prisons, and in the street. Come out to meet and discuss MLK's work with Dr. Price; come out to hear more about her work; come out to share your perspective; come out to meet beautiful, thoughtful, engaged people from throughout our community.

No matter what else we might do, we have to create spaces where we can come together, discuss our issues from our own perspectives, hear each other, and build visions and action for the future. Let's create that space together...
