On the 57th anniversary of Brown vs. Board of Education, an extraordinary group of Louisville female leaders will come together with the University of Kentucky to honor a pioneer of racial and gender equality, former Kentucky Senator Georgia Davis Powers.
As a leader for freedom and fairness, Powers has continued as a champion for women in politics and public policy, paving the way for progress in the Commonwealth beyond her working years.
Jefferson County legislators Julie Raque Adams, Julie Denton, Denise Harper Angel, Joni L. Jenkins and Mary Lou Marzian will join Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, UK Board of Trustees Chair Britt Brockman, State Auditor Crit Luallen and more than 30 female leaders from Jefferson County to host a Women's Luncheon in honor of Powers from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, at The Brown Hotel in Louisville.
