Director of the Black Cultural Center: Berea College

The Director of the Black Cultural Center designs programs and services focusing on the personal, social, and leadership development of African American students and promoting their retention and academic success. The Director is a crucial reason why African American students at Berea graduate at or above the rate of all other domestic students. The Director also works to promote interracial education and understanding among all Bereans.

Successful applicants will hold a master’s degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education, or another appropriate field; leadership experience working with students in a multicultural setting; and strong organization and communication skills. Essential personal qualities include initiative, flexibility, creativity, collaboration, and strong commitment to student development, engagement, and success.

Application materials include completion of the Berea College application for employment, a detailed letter of interest, a current professional resume, and three references. Applicants should submit these materials to the Office of People Services, CPO 2189, Berea, KY 40404 by January 15, 2012. Review of candidates will begin in late January, 2012, and continue until the position is filled.
