FREDERICK DOUGLASS NOW is a history-infused solo performance inspired by the life and work of abolitionist and pioneering feminist Frederick Douglass (1818-1895).
Douglass’ classic speeches, letters, and editorials are interpreted through a 21st century lens, and bookended by the original narratives of writer, actor, and director Roger Guenveur Smith, most notably known for his movies, “Do the Right Thing,” “Malcolm X,” “He Got Game” and “American Gangster.”
The performance will be followed by a Q & A session
