Local Food Summit

Save the Dates March 22-24

We invite your involvement and participation in the 5th Annual Bluegrass Local Food Summit held March 22-24 in Lexington. You have the opportunity to help make this Summit an inspiring and educational experience for all in these ways:

1) Join the Planning Team:

Meetings every other Thursday Jan 19, Feb 2, Feb 16, March 1, March 15 at 10am. All meeting held at the Good Foods Co-op Café on Southland Dr. Everyone invited to attend.

2) Become a Sponsor and/or help us secure additional sponsors:

With categories from Wiggly Worms to Harvester ($25-$1000)! You can register/contribute online. Current Summit Sponsors: Employment Solutions, Bluegrass Community Foundation, Community Ventures, Faith Feeds, Sunnyside Up Radio Program, Temple Adaith Israel, E Consulting, Crestwood Christian Church, Sierra Club, Interfaith Alliance, Good Foods Market and Café, Sustainable Communities Network.

3) Serve as a Summit presenter, workshop facilitator or logistics volunteer.

Summit in brief:

On March 22 we have added a day for elected officials and local government staff to share best practices and learn more about local food and local economy. The Friday March 23rd topics will include Farm to School, Farm to Institution, Beginning Farmers, Sustainable Farming, Food Policy Councils, Rural and Urban Food Deserts, Faith and Food and much more. On Saturday March 24 we have combined our highly acclaimed School Garden Workshop with Sustainable Living Workshops and the Youth Food and Sustainability Gathering into a busy and fun day! You can see that this 2012 Bluegrass Local Food Summit seeks to involve the entire community as we encourage communities to send a team of people to build more enhanced local synergy!!
